I think the reason I was so cold is that we were directly on the shore of Lake Ullswater (as in, our tent was 10m away from the shore, and there was nothing but our car acting as a mini windbreak). I think next time I’ll invest in thermal PJs and a fleece sleeping bag liner. It was my feet, mainly. I will not be thwarted! It’s just that in recent years my only experience of camping has been Reading Festival. Which is obviously in the south of England. In summer. haha 🙂 Thank you for bumping this, I really enjoyed reading it. Oh, and you mentioned on IG about how you’d edit the photos differently now… I get that, but don’t be hard on yourself. Firstly, they’re gorgeous, and secondly, it’s a process. If we did everything ‘perfectly’ first time and were happy with our first or early efforts in hindsight, that wouldn’t be much fun in the grand scheme of things! Besides, it’s always lovely to look back and see how much you’ve ( as in one has) improved. X

Yes yes yes – I love summer adventures too, but there’s a different kind of relaxation to be had when there are no crowds, no queues, no ice cream vans.
I firmly believe there is no bad weather, as long as you have the right agenda! We headed here with the full expectation to not get out much, which meant we didn’t mind spending so long cozied up with books by the fire.
3 sleepless nights from cold sounds pretty hideous though – thermal pajamas too? If you ever make it to this caravan, I’m sure you’ll find it much much toastier 🙂 xx

It looks amazing! I am so, so tempted by something like this! I just love camping and staying in the middle of nowhere, and spending all day outdoors. We went camping in the Lake District in April last year and it was so lovely going camping in the off season. Cold – as in I didn’t sleep for 3 nights as I couldn’t keep warm despite my 3 season sleeping bag – but quiet, and blissful. My kind of holiday!

So lovely. Looks like a little magic place. And i am always impressed how you capture these beautiful moments and make me feel like i was with you at this Winter vacation trip. Have a good day!
