Show & Tell: July

Ah, thanks Autumn – it’s so nice to hear from other people who ‘get it’ when it comes to hens! They have to be known to be understood I think. Orla is confused – we really struggled to explain it to her in a way that made sense, and she now seems to have decided that Matilda ‘blew away’. It makes my heart break a bit every time she asks about it 🙁 xx

I swear, she thinks they’re sweets or something! Nature’s own sweets, I guess. She’s suddenly gone very ‘child-like’ and less toddler-like’ – it’s a scary and magical thing to watch! love to you and your lovely little family xx

Thanks Joi – yes, that picture really is bittersweet, with her lovely clean summer feathers. Life is fragile and senseless, at times, but angelic Orla keeps us all on track here 🙂 xx

It was a month full of events, some bright and magic, others dark and heavy… It is wonderful to stare at Orla’s eyes and find balance and peace there 🙂

I’m so sorry to hear about your hen! My parents had two and they were such sweet and dear pets. They are really underrated and I can’t imagine how that was for your little girl too 🙁

I love that the little ones so enjoy podding peas, and that photo, just gorgeous! Orla is growing up before our eyes, such a sweetheart xx
