Winter days getting you down? I asked my insta friends to share their favourite winter activity, and have put them together to make a failsafe winter to do list. In fact, truth be told – I struggled to choose just 30 for this list! Many of the comments also made me lament the fact that I don’t

simple DIY Christmas wreaths
I always mean to do such a lot, at Christmas. Back before I had a child & a business & a napping addiction, I did used to do a lot. Handmade cards, gingerbread palaces, whole-house decorations. Now, it feels like a tremendous achievement just to string some lights on a tree. And I’m all for

Recipe: Tarka Dahl
Thick, spicy and full of warmth, Tarka Dahl has been my order of choice from the Indian takeaway for a long time, but it never occurred to me to make at home. I think I imagined it would be faffy, as many Indian dishes are – requiring complex curry pastes and ingredients we didn’t already

Show & Tell: January
January in iPhone snaps… 1. WE HAVE A WEDDING VENUE! PHEW – with only seven months to go, that was feeling kind of close. It’s a big, beautiful cowshed on a big, messy old farm, and I’m suddenly VERY excited to wed this fella of mine. 2. The first snowfall of winter came, meaning the

PART OF MY {100 stories} SERIES: A COLLECTION OF FICTIONAL FRAGMENTS & UNFINISHED RAMBLINGS… Marthe was born in the snow. Her mama often told it; how for 9 long months she’d predicted her firstborn would come with the snowfall, & awoken suddenly, waters leaking warm in the bed, to the first flakes of December. “We’ve got winter in our

Show & Tell: October
Wait, does this mean it’s nearly November? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised as I’m writing this next to the fire, lamp already switched on at 3:55pm, evening fog descending outside. They keep saying it’s going to be a ‘really bad winter’, which actually means a brilliant winter in my book. Sledge & mittens at

gypsy caravan in winter
A little getaway, staying in a 1940s gypsy caravan in Wales. Completely perfect. Rising with Orla & the sun to light the wood burning stove, get the kettle on to boil & cook pancakes, as the birds sing in the morning from the trees. Radio playing and steam at the windows. Then squelch through
