ten ways I am embracing spring (in February, but whatevs)

    • planting flowering bulbs in the frost-thawed soil
    • lounging (& snoozing) in soft patches of sunlight
    • skipping about in

these pastel pink shoes

    • stuffing daffodils into old milk bottles on sunny windowsills
    • reading

these poems

    • by the wonderful Mary Oliver
    • washing the windows so the light can flood in
    • making little cardboard window boxes & tea-towel curtains for

Orla’s playhouse

    • weaving a wreath from soft new green saplings
    • wearing

this

    • cheerful & quick new lip & cheek colour
drinking floral-frangranced tea on the doorstep, listening to early morning birdsong

It actually looks a bit like a pig pen. Can I have a pig in my tiny garden, do you think??

That sounds idyllic! An early bird anything sounds lovely (& impossible) to me!

Yes, spring is the season of optimism! 😀 I’m so pleased for you and your wheely bins. Emmy knows it’s not her new playhouse, right? x

It was from last spring – we found a whole nestfull tipped onto a path, & this wee one was the only one left alive. We found a sanctuary that had a mama bird with chicks of a similar age and they took him in and he was fine 🙂 xx

I love this! It’s like a peek into the future, because I know in six months I’ll be doing similar things….but for now, at the end of a long, hot Australian summer, and after what seems like the umpteenth day in a row over 30 degrees centigrade with high humidity, I’m dreaming of waking up on crisply-cool mornings, running through the fog in the morning half-light, and having soup and slow cooked beef for dinner every night. Go to the early bird yoga class and have fun with Ida in the sunny forest. Have a lovely day!

Lovely, optimistic blog!

My garden is just beginning to wake up – all the buds are poised to burst open. I’m celebrating by having a wheelie bin store built outside of the garden to free up some space for a water butt. I’m so rock n roll 😀
