The first time I was invited to a fancy London press event, I felt a little bit lost. What is a press day? What is press day etiquette? WHAT should I WEAR to a press day?! Cue a frantic, fruitless google search, & a fair bit of social anxiety.

So, for the panicked or the curious, I thought I would share some answers.

If I’m honest, i’m still not sure I really belong in the glitzy press day world. I always feel like I’m sneaking about amongst infinitely more capable & shiny-haired people – albeit in my very glittery gold Lotta clogs, so I can run super-fast should they ask me to return my champagne & goody bag.

So anyway, I made a little vlog; a vicarious trip to London with me & Spud.

I’ve never made a video of any sort before, so apologies for all the rubbish bits, and that awkward attempt at talking to the camera in the middle. Also, the second half is mainly just indulgent clips of Orla being adorbs, and I’m not even sorry.

All that being said, please watch it anyway, because I spent actual hours figuring this crap out, and I’ll probably cry if nobody clicks…

HOURS, I tell you.(thanks x)

The video was lovely. I love Boden (just ordered a couple Breton shirts!) and the music was perfect. My heart aches for London now though. 🙁

I really loved your video. 🙂 No crying allowed please.
Also, I don’t know how you filmed yourself walking without falling or bumping into someone and spilling scalding coffee/tea all over your breasts. Because that’s what I would have done.

And I have 2 granddaughters Ella 2 yrs 4 mo and Emilia 4 months. So much fun being a grandmother! I wish I could comment on Ig but they block my comments when someone has over 50k followers. I’m myrnaphotography if you have a chance to take a peak. Nice view of Manhattan from my 31 floor balcony.

Are you on fb?

Yay! Thanks Lou, it was a bit of an experiment so it means a lot that you think it turned out well. The camera is a Canon G7 I think! A few of the shots were done with my big Canon DSLR, but only towards the end once the G7 ran out of battery as I forgot to bring the charger… oops! xx

Thank you Julia! This comment makes me feel much better about the whole thing :D. I’m sure Boden would love to see you at their next event – give me a nudge if you want me to share an email address.
Yes, the clogs are remarkably comfy – and I say that as someone with extremely feeble & blister-prone feet. I have another pair in the aubergine colour and they are the softest & comfiest, like suede on the inside. The gold are a stiffer leather due the finish I guess, and needed ‘breaking in’, but I can now do a decent amount of walking about in them! Both my pairs are the ‘high heel’ which isn’t all that high and does’t cause me any pain or problems. Basically, you need at least six pairs.. 😀 xxx

Oh what a brilliant video!! Like spending the day with you, lovely to hear your voice again. So Orla, apart from being the most beautiful girl has epic bed hair, epic, and very good dessert choice in the middle there. Love her. Nice to see inside a Boden press day, my children have worn their clothes since Millie was born 13 years ago, the bunny print is already in Anna’s wardrobe waiting for winter. You look perfectly well suited to press days lovely and are your clogs comfortable to walk in? That’s the only thing that stops me buying any, are they comfortable.
Just love this post x

  • August 05, 2015

Oh, thanks Kathi! Such a lovely compliment. There were so many great moments I missed – it’s not easy recording video with a squirmy toddler holding your hand – so I’m glad you still felt like it captured the mood I wanted 🙂 xx

  • Sara Tasker

  • August 05, 2015

Thanks Hannah! The music is by Priscilla Ahn and She & Him. It did take a fair while, but that was more do to with my inexperience and techno-issues than the actual task. I think next time I could do it much more quickly! (if there is a next time!) xx
